Kapustnica



Kapustnica is a delicious Slovakian food that takes more time than effort and skill which makes it good for people who are not good at cooking but want to make a big meal.

1. Ingredients 

  1.  beef
  2. spicy sausage
  3. sour cabbage
  4. mushrooms
  5. Red bell pepper spice 
  6. black pepper 
  7. caraway seeds
  8. chopped marjoram
  9. peeled potatoes 
  10. bay leaf

2. Getting started 

It's important to get some animal fat and let it melt in the pot so the meat we put in won't get stuck or start to burn. After you want to add the beef and spicy sausage with a lot of water and slowly cook it for 30 minutes so the meat finishes cooking. 

                                                                           







3. Adding spices 
When it comes to adding spices the order is not very important but the list of them is caraway seeds, marjoram, black pepper, and most importantly the red bell pepper spice, add a lot! The food gets its signature color from this spice and finish it all with some bay leaves.





 
4. Finishing touches
The last 2 ingredients you will add are mushrooms and potatoes they take roughly 15 minutes to cook when you add them after that you can eat the food and enjoy it is also usually served with bread.




As a last tip, the reason why I did not add how much you have to add for each ingredient is that it depends on the person and how they like this food so people shouldn't be afraid to test the food and experiment.
